impressivelad Rich and flavourful jazz experiments, might be my favourite of Dwyer's jazzy escapades so far. The first Bent Arcana album is very meditative and tastefully subdued whereas this one, despite being from the same sessions is much more guitar driven though everything is still given room to breathe. Brilliant drumming, bass-lines and horns throughout. The crescendo on War Clock is especially fiery and lysergic, glimmering like a star in the throes of death! Favorite track: The War Clock.

The same crew as the boundary-pulsing improvisation record Bent Arcana has made a trajectory shift and picked up Ben Boye along the path. The aptly named Moon Drenched is the second installment from these sessions & keeps a heavy-lidded late night perspective on things as it eases from the familiar liminal twilight of skittering hues of black-blue and snaking street groove to fizzing off into the ether in pursuit of lunar prism beams heretofore unseen. The more rhythmically dialed bits here have a lysergic halo of strangeness to them, and the wispy bits between are spun from an iridescent gossamer. It sounds like a frizzled message from a future just filthy with guitar hoots echoing of neon splattered high rises, oil-slicked waterways and skittering digital beasts. For my money this is the strangest 12” slice of this last bunch of improvisations: the left turns more vertiginous, the flickering embers of repetition and recognition fly farther apart, as a steady procession of ever stranger wildlife circles the stereo space, nosing in to peek on what’s cooking. For what is effectively an outtakes album (the first three tracks being from the sessions for 'Face Stabber'), "Metamorphosed" doesn't fuck about in any sense of the word. Said first three tracks get your shit pumping hard; 'Saigant' especially is a god-tier starter. The following 37 minutes after that (moreso alluding to 'I Got A Lot' here) is purely "yeah, we love CAN; here's our take on a Tago Mago-style jam". Two complete polar opposite extremes, and yet they work together magnificently. Xtra Happy

Vol. II of the Osees' Lev Sessions is a perfect succesor; digs more oldies out of their ever-growing backcatalog and gives them a fresh coat of paint. Fan favourite 'Tidal Wave' starts things off strong before delving into garage nostalgia with 'The Dream', 'Enemy Destruct' and 'Destroyed Fortress Reappears'. 'Web' and 'Beat Quest' are also great, and it's cute to hear 'Spider Cider' too. The Chrome covers that end things off are really cool; 'SS Cygni' is a hell of a bop to end things off. Xtra Happy
